Hi Guys

I am running in this years London Marathon. This will be my first marathon, i had a place last year but due to injury had to defer to this year.
Training has gone well this year and i have finished all my long runs. 20 Miles being my longest run last Friday. From now till Sunday 21st it is all tapering. I am aiming to finish in 4hrs 30mins.

I decided to run for RNLI as i think they are a great charity, they risk their lives to saves others on a daily basis. I know a lot of us on this forum are keen beach goers so will probably have seen the Life guards called into action on several occasions.
I for one had a bad experience 2 years ago whilst in the sea, luckily i was able to get myself back on the beach but saw how dangerous the sea can be.

If you are possibly able to sponsor me it would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet I have a mate running in the same race. I will be on the side lines cheering you all on

Good luck Matt, rather you than me!

10 Days to go, anymore of you lovely earlybayers fancy sponsoring me and a great cause

Good luck , i hope your feet aren't too sore at the finish, well done for a very worthy cause. 8)

Finished in 4:53 really pleased. Didn't stop at all from start to finish.

What an amazing day, if anyone is thinking of signing up to do it. Do it! The atmosphere is truly special and really quite emotional when you think hundreds of thousands of people are giving up their days to come along and cheer and shout for you it is very inspirational.

So for my first marathon I am over the moon. Thanks for the support guys :D

Congratulations, am really pleased for you Matt, all your work and effort has payed off! Well done sir!!! I did see one guy on the telly with the name Matt across his chest, blue letters on a yellow shirt, could that have been you???
Have for many years thought how amazing it must feel to do this. Now knowing someone who has done so may well be the inspiration for a certain lazy, overweight, unfit & never done sport, middle aged individual, to get off their backside and have a goal to aim for.
Bugger, crossing that finish line must be an incredible feeling.....:)

Pete that sounds like me. Yellow shirt, Blue Letters. Blue Shorts. Sometime I had a cap and sunglasses on.

Watched the highlights show on Sunday from 7-8pm. Turned on at half 7 and about 2 minutes later at the bottom of the screen I saw myself coming through the finish line.

Yes crossing the line was amazing, so painful by that point though. Sign up for next years opens on Monday for the general ballet (Very slim chance of getting in) It closes once 125,00 people have entered, normal within a few hours. But if you do get in that's all the motivation you would need!
