Hi, new to this camper stuff but I've rebuilt more beetle brake system than I care to remember.
I can't find a good system diagram for servo brakes that shows what plugs into what. I have a servo with a hose to the inner arch, and another to the engine bay where it's cut off. I have a small curved-edge magic black box that has a bracket in the rhs engine bay and I'm guessing that something plugs into it. Lastly something has to plug into a manifold when I get my engine in there! Not even in my Bentley manual does it say what goes where, Tut tut. Can somebody doodle a simple sketch of the system? Cheers.

Hi, i don't have a diagram but i can try to explain it? The pipe from the servo that goes into the arch is a breather, as vacuum is applied to the diaphragm inside the servo it has to be able to move the air on the opposite side, the reason it goes into the arch is to stop any crap/water getting in. The long pipe that comes out the other end of the servo will eventually go onto your manifold, should be made up of the rubber hose and then a steel pipe connecting to another bit of rubber hose that enters the engine bay on the left side as your looking at it. The manifold for a servo will have the take off to connect the rubber hose to it. Its probably a good idea to get a one way valve too to prevent damage to the diaphragm in the event of a backfire.

As for the round edged canister, it sounds like part of the California emissions set up, and is not needed.

Thanks so much man. The canister is a charcoal canister. I think it goes between the filler neck breather and the air filter. I'm ditching it. Thanks again.
