Shock Absorber question

Hi guys,
What would be the best shock absorber to go for on a mildly lowered van ie down by 1 spline front and rear (atm I think thats what we will go for). We have just checked one of the rears and its foobared beyond all recognision, no damping effect at all.
I have searched round on here and the choice is overwhelming, so any comments and thoughts would be appreciated!

I think a stock length shock works fine on one spline.
