Why not put it in the spare wheel well at the back of the bus that VW nicely put there for it?

Got my spare in mine. Don't get in the way when my full width westy bed is down.

Jonny - is that a roofrack that someone has customized?

thats a factory item, it was on Ebay today at £170 but it didnt sell. ive been hunting high and low to find where its made but no luck.

A tin of tyre weld for short trips and one of these for camping and long journeys is my choice.

Don't seem to be able to add the poll option???

I think a poll won't be neccasary,it seems the jury unaminously decide to get that spare wheel off :D

what do tou do with the holes under the mounting bracket?
Mine has 4 holes that will require filling/welding/whatever

These four holes should be where the badgs clips go.They are on my Westy and they where on my Dormy,if you remove the threaded clips you should be able to fit badge clips and fit a badge.

there are really good quality triple chrome badges on in the forsale section, (skitts i think) £29 and they are quality.

It all depends on whether you want the look or the practicality.
Inside it takes up valuable space.
On the roof it makes the vehicle less aerodynamic wasting fuel and raises the centre of gravity.
On the back it gets in the way of both hatches and the numberplate.
You decide - its your van :)

I dont think it makes alot of difference to a 7ft tall/6ft wide, 2 tonne loaf of bread that has a max speed of 60mph (in my case) :D

But you know how it goes, 'sods law' if i left it off i just know i'd get a flat the same day :(

same here

always have me spare with me but NEVER on the front 8)

Dont really think the aerodynamics will be that greatly affected as on the front Its a dirty great carbuncle that will produce a hell of a lot of turbulance

A guy in my local vw club had a 5mph bump in his lovely usa westy, The spare wheel on the front hit the wall 1st and completely buckled the front panel arkwardly and now he's stuck with a right mess! Think it spoils the looks of an e b completely too! :D

And a roofrack with a wheel on it doesent spoil the look ???????

Roofrack lovers who deny drag coefficients --- your all in denial

Well then.......

I have a nice shiney front badge from skitts on here and am keen to fit it to my bus however....

I took off my spare today and there is a dent hiding behind the spare wheel sadly. It isn't really bad or anything but would need panel beating, a skim of filler probably and 2 mounting holes welding up as the bracket is held on with 6 bolts (4 of which are where I need them).

The previous owner has painted (not very good) a small area where the tyre has been rubbing and the other side there is paint damage also.

I have decided as funds are low at the moment to keep the spare on as it hides these areas that I just can't live with being on display. I recon to fit the badge and for me to be happy it'll need panel beating, welding and painting the entire front panel ££££££

I'll get saving then! 8)

shouldnt be too bad a job if its a dent and not creased....a little slide hammer action jobs a good un
