Just taken my fan out again to find it isn't quite true. I have another to replace it with but I have just realised both of these are single port fans (30mm wide) instead of the larger twin port one. Will I be losing a lot of cooling from this? I think I will have to use it as a temporary measure at least for now although I haven't had any overheating issues with the engine and it's been like that for 2-3 years now......

Another reason to think about building a new engine I guess

Cheers Sparky, just ordered a new one so hopefully that will arrive tomorrow.

I had the same issue with mine. Amazing how certain engine builders can miss these things!

Indeed. Its rather obvious and makes one worry what else they have "missed", as you politely call it.

If I had bought it as a new engine I would of been a bit pissed off! Mine was a secondhand turnkey job so no doubt it had been messed around with over the years. I know there are a couple of bits that could do with looking at so very tempted to rebuild over the winter now.

I've found out the same - the hard way! Cracked cylinder head whilst 300 miles from home! Also some tinware missing too.

Oh well, engine out and hopefully this time be a bit more vigilant and less trusting of others.
