Hi All

Trying a new (VWHeritage) slide seal on min 1970. Seems to fit easily Top, bottom and RHS, but the LHS nearest passenger door is 'somewhat tight'.. (i.e. not managed to get it in the profile yet) This is probably normal but before I pour a gallon of fairy liguid on it I thought I would check.

I could easily have it upside down or insideout for example..

Cheers

James

Dont Use fairy Liquid! it contains salt and anionic surfactants that promote rusting

I recommend Son of Gun and itll keep your rubbers supple for ages.

Sounds like your having normal problems, can you get the door shut? the left hand profile should have the cut that slants from the inside to thicker at the outside edge.

Johnny

Thanks for the reply may try this out if I can get some. Any other non-corrosive alterntives you know of ?

Vaseline any good ?

James

ive never used vaseline as ive thought it would always leave a mess to clean off?, i dont know, but personally i would go with something more viscous. I use Son of a Gun, cheap, easy to get and works well for me :D .

only problem with KY jelly is that its water based.... dont ask me how i know that

Hmm

Didn't see the KY or WaxOil suggestions in time (even thouh I have an aerosol of clear WaxOil I could have used).

So, as I was babysitting at my Brothers (where the van is kept) I went through his cupboards and found some
wax cotton garment reproofing stuff - Clear waxy and quite slippery in contact with rubber - seemed to work fine..

Cheers all

james

Wont the white spirit in Waxoyl be nasty for the rubber?
