This is a bit difficult to describe on a forum, so please bear with me. I've re-fitted the sliding door to my van and the rear of the door sticks out by a few millimetres when both front & back catches are latched.

Once latched, if you pull the handle upwards, the rear of the door pulls in and aligns correctly with the body, but as soon as you let the handle go back to it's normal position the rear sticks out again. I've read the Haynes manual section on adjustment but it seems to tell you how to adjust the door in every direction except the one I need! Can anyone help?

Also, after reading the Haynes manual, it seems that I should be able to lock the door in the open position. Is that right because I've never been able to do this.

Finally, what does the little button do that is next to the interior sliding door handle do? It looks like it maybe a lock, but it won't move on my van.

Hope this makes sense! Thanks.

can't help you with the adjust ment as i have the same problem apart from the fact that mine pulls in too far

but the little catch on the inside is a lock

i have been told that this lock is indepentant to the one on the outside and to be honest it is the only one that works on our van

not much use i know, but lets just say i feel your pain

the internal button is to stop the handle accidently being opened from the inside, a safety lock,

is there any wear to the slider mechanism/lock? it should stay in tight when pulled.

If I have understood your post correctly, I think the problem lies with the adjustment on the striker plate at the rear. The striker plate is the bit that bolts to the body. Have you fitted new rubbers to the door? We found that initially the getting the door to sit flush was near impossible, so we adjusted every thing so it worked properly and then let it do it's own thing for a few weeks until the rubbers had settled in then it was possible to re-adjust to get things looking good.

If the striker plate is too far in it is possible that the lock mechanism is not going over centre to correctly latch, which is what you are describing. Try moving the striker plate out slightly and getting the door to latch properly and then see how the fit is. Do you have a handbook for the bus? Download your year from here.
