Sliding door handle mechanism

The sliding door handle mechanism on my van isn't working correctly as the top rod that travels across the full width of the door and pulls it on closing has become detached. Does anyone know how it is fixed in place? It looks either like it should be riveted or screwed any help would be appreciated

The loop fits over the stud and is prevented from falling off by a C clip.
