Sliding door question for you prototype's

Hello earlybay'ers . Iv popped over from the dark side to pick your brains .

A local guy has offered me a side loader but it's from an earlybay . He assures me that it will fit my 'cough' latebay but I'm not sure .
I know the locks are different but are the lock mechanisms the same ? Are the hinges and runners the same ?

Basically will it work?

sounds like the start of getting a proper bus together!

door will fit but you may need the striker plate for the front of the door on the B pillar.
top middle n bottom runners not a prob, nor is the rear striker

So I theory could I use my existing handle and mechanisms ?

not sure on internals but you will defo need an early handle as the lock is in it

strongys right, early door=early handle n mech, late door=late handle n mech
so you will need the handle, mech n keys for the early door too
