Got bored on the way back from South Devon yesterday, so decided to see which lorry gave me the best 'slip stream' and best mpg. Sad but true and i know it's dangerous! The results:
In last place was the AA van that i followed for about 5 miles. Quite frankly there was no effect at all.
In third was a knackered old removal van that allowed me to do 55mph without hardly touching the accelerator.
In second was a Wisemans Dairy lorry that again was doing 55 but it just seemed that much more comfortable behind it.
In first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Ginsters Pasty lorry all the way from rainy Cornwall. I followed this for about 20 miles past Weston and onto Bristol. It was doing a good 60mph (thought they were restricted?) and the height and width made it a perfect 'tail gater'.
Can anyone do better???????

You must be mad!!! I would be twitching thinking the lorry is gonna break hard and me with drums all round am not!

i did try it with my dads old high top transit back when my van was on the road, but this was 2 days after i managed to get it to 90mph on the M62, (dont ask how, its completely stock and i dont know) so i was still a bit shakey so only lasted a couple of seconds. might have to try again when i get it back, might make it cheap enough to drive to work in the van, :D

So you think A 44 tonne artic vehicle can stop quicker than you do you  Perhaps thats why so many cars and vans cut our stopping distance in half so they can get in front of us when coming off a Motorway

 how close do you have to get?

Tbh I don't like the idea of getting to close to the vehicle in front in a boose due to the sh*t brakes  Unless you have CSP's ofcourse

gotta say, when is the last time a lorry driver tapped his brakes? they are the last of the late brakers them boys  and if it were possible those boys are probbably closer to theirs screens then us

Pick the vehicle you slip stream carefully.

I tried this chap, and quite frankly, it was useless.
