Is he hoping for the Jamie Oliver effect to happen on his van.
Price Esculateing out of controll for an ordinary van. :?

If i put mine on Ebay and say owned by Rustydiver of EARLY BAY will mine be worth lots more.

A new bay window will fetch that kind of money now. If you add up the price of a moody van these days, then add a repair bill, new engine & paint, you would be well up to that level but not as good.
I can see the attraction of a modern classic, there is no rust or bodges to worry about.
It's a lot of money for a VW...

There might not be any rust - but I bet there are some bodges. And... I'd bet money that the build quality isn't a patch on that of the original bays (early or late).

But, at the end of the day, would you really want to scoot about in a bus that has a beetle front bumper fitted

They are a fecking ugly bus with the change to the roofline and the pressing on the lower door skin amongst the "improvements", better than the new watercooled with the bloody ridiculous grill strapped to the front...
I'd rater go for the T5 sportsline and fit the rear out as a day van given the money....

I know a guy who had a 53 plate 'new' bay. Apparently he went through 2 exhausts before stumping up for a stainless system (plus the hassle of having a cat converter). Then his gearbox blew up because they have the mexican beetle box which can't handle the extra weight.

Also the new water cooled versions are 1.4  mind you probably faster than a lot of 1.6 aircooled motors!

Why have a RHD bus if the slider is on the drivers side - perfect for letting the kiddies out into the traffic!!!

Way overpriced, and who gives a toss Who's (no pun intended!) owned it before?

;)

This was only sold direct from Pete Townsend, via an Auction Hose, late last year -

Think i might get someone to photoshop a picture of the queenbehind the wheel of my bay and then sell it for a £1,000,000,000,000
Just because some rockstar used to own it doesn't make it any more valuable, also if there have been a couple of owners since then his name will not even be on the logbook

the new ones are ugly in my opinion almost as bad as those little jap crap vans you see on ebay made to look like splittys apparently dont understand why they had to change the roof or the bottom of the cab doors or the radiator hidden in the fake wheel carrier in fact why they had to try and build them atall leave the classics alone i say

The demand in Brazil is led by the home market, theyre not arsed how retro cool they are, they just want cheap vans to use for work etc.

The' cult' market share is minute. :)

if you look who is selling the van, its his misses flogging it (at least the sellers name matches the name in the description) which means he still owns it. and on her feedback she has sold other "pete townsend owned merchandise" seems like pete is cashing in on his own fame. he'll be selling his own autographs on ebay next. and what was he thinking with those seats and that colour

it gives you all the details about eating etc.. it doesnt mention anything about the kiddy fiddling.

the new owner will probably find a few empty 'Wherther's Originals' packets under the drivers seat :p
