Hello all, finally got around to taking some pictures of my Earlybay Cynthia, who I had mentioned in an earlier post. I think will take quite some time to return her to any state of glory - we will see. please be kind in any thought or comment!

I'm at the start of the project and journey of figuring out a little more about EBs and how they go together. So I am currently gathering the panels I will need to hopefully complete the van at present and sorting out the garage, part of which is tidying out some bits I won't now need hence I will be posting some rear quarter panels (full length) in the for sale forum later today.

Best wishes to all, and thank you for the help and input already

Jonathan

Evning.

Big project you have there.
My mate baught a 76 in pretty much the same condition.
3 years later and its pretty much ready for paint.
Sounds like a long time but feels like he only got it yeaterday.
Could have probably done it quicker but he's a family man, time n money etc.....
He can weld though so hasnt had to pay out on labour.
Im guessing your situation is similar to this?

Also you may suffer a little burn out when youve been at it for a few months. You start getting bored of it all basicly. In extreem cases you even think of selling it on  DONT DO IT!!!!
Tidy up, put your tools away and walk away for a month or so.
Then you'll be good to go again  .

Good luck with it though.

Rich

P.S DO NOT GIVE UP AND SELL IT!!!

I agree with Hoosier if u have had enough walk away and pick it up again later!
I love a project , u have a project there but what satisfaction u will get went u get it on the road!
I recon u will b so chuffed when its done
All the best n look forward to the pics

Don't forget to start a restoration thread, I didn't cos I didn't know about it - maybe I'll start one sometime , a bit late maybe ?

That looks very similar to mine 7 years ago. I'll also agree with the above, mine took 7 long years to sort out but that includes period of 6-9 months when I didn't even look at it, came close to selling on 2 ocassions even had a swap arranged with a T25  but the guy changed his mind, thank god he did as that provided the impetus to get stuck in again and I finally finished it. Driving it for the first time was one of my proudest moments and when I look back I have to admit to enjoying the process almost as much as then finished product (well most of it anyways)!!

Looks like you'll have a cracking van when done and you'll know every inch of it to. Best of luck, look forward to following your progress.

We had a similar van 3 years ago.....but we didn't have a garage to work in.

Hubby taught himself all the new skills required to fix the ol girl and i did the interior ... and after 2 terrible winters we finally got paint on her last year while The sun shone on Volksfling! All done under a makeshift cover on the drive..... And she passed MOTwithout a sinle advisory in July 2012 .

We had a couple of hiccups ....home from Volksfest Leeds on an RAC wagon and a ruined holiday , but all fixable and she hasn't as much as coughed this year!

As others have said, there will be times you want to sell but try to remember why you got it in the 1st place.

Good luck

Thank you to all for your encouragement and very sensible ideas of walking away every now and then! No plans to sell - every plan to restore - will start a restoration thread - watch this space .......
