I wasnt happy with how noisy it is inside the van when driving so did some sound proofing last week. The plan was to do above the engine and the bulkhead behind the bed. I bought some Dodo Pro [3 sheets] and Dodo Sound Stopper [1 sheet] sheet and after a good clean i fitted them with some spray-on glue and taped the edges down.

I had already fitted some Silent Coat 2mm sound damping panels in both areas a few years ago and these new sheets go over the top.

It only took an afternoon and its made a noticeable difference, it was always a bit shouty to have to talk to people in the back when driving and now, it’s not! It’s not modern car quiet but it’s much better.

Before i started it measured around 70 dB when idling in the garage, and now it’s between 55-60 dB [engine off is around 30-35dB for ref].

Hope this helps anyone looking to do the same. IMG_0599.jpegIMG_0598.jpegIMG_0611.jpegIMG_0605.jpegIMG_0608.jpegIMG_0621.jpeg

I did mine and it’s made a huge difference. You might think that the bed cushion would absorb most noise and possibly the fuel tank area too but not in real life. I’m also thinking that the next time I’ve got that motor out of the noisey cupboard that I might get in behind the firewall and insulate as much as I can in there because I reckon that echoes in there adding to the noise instead of detracting from the whole racket. I have seen firewalls with light fluffy insulation on the rear, now whether that’s stock or an add on by someone along the ownership line I don’t know, but I don’t have any on mine, possibly because it was a panel van ? Who knows ?

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,Never thought of measuring DBs, great idea :)

I've fully sound deadened, insulated and carpeted the deluxe. I can actually hear the radio and have a conversation with a passenger without shouting now.

Hexa soundmat on the roof and floors, inner panel and cab tubs and floor,
