SP heads and gaskets Quection

I need to get the old sealing rings out of the inlet port on my sp engine. I've tried using a sturdy pick but have no luck. I don't want to start whacking it with a hammer and chisel. Is there a way i can get these old rings out without damaging the head port?

The only way when they get stuck is a small hammer and a small screw driver .What happens is the alloy ring gets squashed and spreads out jamming it in the counter bour that it sits in.Just be carefull

I've not had a problem in the past other than they have been very well compressed. They are softer than the head so shouldn't post a big problem to remove them
