Im going to be attempting to replace my speedo cable this weekend by myself.

Any pointers, hints tips, tricks or general knowledge of how to and the best way advice would be much appreciated.

Fore warned is fore armed as they say. Id like this to go without a hitch if possible.

As it stands my cable is broken approx 10cm from the hub, the outer casing is intact, folded up away beneath the bus. Are there any specialist tools I will require?

Thanks in advance

When you're done pop round & fix my high beam :)

Why didn't I buy my bus years ago !?

No special tools. Front belly pan off and you can see where it all goes. Easy peasy - even I did mine in about 15 mins!

Screwdriver for removing the dash cluster, remembering to take the heater levers off. Only need to bring it forward enough to screw that end of the cable on/off by hand.
I forget if you're LHD or RHD but essentially it routes to the nearside of the pedal pan and if you're lucky you'll still have a couple of metal tabs on the chassis to secure it with.
Don't forget the rubber grommety-thing that goes in to the back of the spindle.
Don't lose the circlip! ...if you do then the advice I was given of welding wire works wonderfully but might look a bit out of place on your bus
Finally; drink what's left of your beers :beerchug:

P.S. Graham @ MEB fitted mine - I just did the final plumbing through the new spindles a couple of weekends back so had a good looksee of the route.

If it’s any help, when I did mine I picked up a little tip of putting a cable-tie around the speedo-cable close to where it connects to the speedo. It just means if during fitting you happen to let go of the part that screws on to the back of the speedo, it doesn’t slide down the cable into a position that will make it hard to retrieve.

Handy tip, thanks for that pal!
