Speedo's stopped working - thoughts anybody

Morning guys, the speedo on our 70 Westy just stopped working yesterday and just wondered if you could give me some pointers as to what to check out first.

Check that the end of the speedo drive cable has not come out of the end of the dust cap on the LH front wheel.

When you take the hub cap off you should see a small square hole in the center dust cap the end of the cable should be poking through this hole.

give it a tug aswell with a pair of pliers,mine was still in place but snaped in the middle.
