At Bugjam i found a KPH speedo head with trip fitted. Changed a load of parts on the back n got the Dremel out  and now its MPH.
Fitted it today and the miles n trip work perfectly but i didnt put the needle on properly so its outa wack, something to address in the near future.
All for the princely sum of 18 quid 8) .
Anyone else done this?
Will get some pix up soon to see what you all think.

Rich

Now that sounds like a bargain 8)

I wish I could have found my trip speedo for that much......I won't say how much I paid for mine

dude...wheres my trip speedo...i paid £250 gladly to get a 69 dash console that contained trip MPH speedo and deluxe clock and earlybay fuel gauge thingie. I would pay it again tomorrow for the original ting. I respect you doing your thing and salute you sir as i`m out of pocket by about £230 quid and you have the same appearance as my bus

Ive still yet to find a 68 tripper ....

I was very lucky as there was a guy selling quite a bit of stuff on here a while back and he had a MPH trip speedo that I managed to get for £20

In the past now as i sold the bloody van and yes I do still regret it.

What is the difference? (apart from the stamp at the back  )

On a '68 the odometer is below the needle, so the trip is above it.

I cant put any old trip unit in my van y'see

Dude, I have 2 dash pods with trips and clocks, both '68, when I actually get a '68 bus and have installed the best one, you may have yourself a deal on the one I dont use (they are both nice ;) )

Hoosier,
Please let me know how you cut the holes for the trip to show through and did you use the original silvered centre trim- I am currently working on this mod and am stuck on the silver trim as the original is damaged and I am struggling to cut a perfect rectangle by hand!
I am also interested in how you got the spring tension on the needle.
All tips welcome.

Yep, there was a silver centre trim on the KPH speedo thankfully as i wouldnt have baught it. Havnt changed the spring in the centre of the needle post just the unit on the rear that the speedo cable screws to (and all the cogs that run the clocks etc). Dont know how close the speedo is yet as a mate who came over from Guernsey for Bugjam nicked our satnav to find his way back to the ferry port  on the monday after. If it turns out that the speedo is still in KPM i will beat it and tell you how it was done
