Hi guys

wondered if any of you guys had experienced this?

My bus is mid resto (albeit a long one!) and I bought all Status Vewib seals at Volkworld show a couple of years ago ..

Fitted the engine bay seal about 6 months ago .. Never been outside the garage and not exposed to anything really, yet the seal has split and started to perish on the crease where it gets squashed by the door .. never been wet.. not even had the engine running so cant blame heat!

Anyone else had these issues?

Guess its too late to do anything now as Ive had em so long ..

Just disappointing ..

I've got the same issue, got my seal from another supplier, they swapped it no problems but the new ones done it too. Sounds like a manufacture issue. Contact status and see what they say, should last more than a few years.

No, no exposure to anything!

Just fitted after paint as rebuilt about 6 months ago and just noticed it ..

Cheers Marco, i'll message Status and see what they say .. Cant really expect them to do much tho ..

Im not as worried with it being the engine bay .. as long as the door ones dont go the same way!

I don't think its only me , I lecture daily to gas engineers and they keep me abreast of there findings.
You would not believe how many problems they are encountering on the job. From washing machine rubber perishing to gas cooker hoses splitting and now door seals. It seems there may be a possible problem with the rubber compounds maybe?
Or could it be inferior quality rearing its head after a certain amount of time? :? :? :?

I think Status is now owned by JK.

It does just sound like a poor quality seal.

O dear...if that's true, then they've just lost another customer

You are unlikely to find better, vewib are considered one of the best qualities you can buy and are the manufacturer that most suppliers will offer if you request high quality.

Just an update guys ..

Spoke to 'Status' .. Aka JK ..

Just told me that Jk are not responsible for any purchases made from
Status prior to them taking over in March 2013...

(Which I can see their point in a way but a bit of 'customer service' doesn't go amiss!)

Therefore are not willing to accept any responsibility..

RIP Status .. :(

.. Oh and er JK .. Sod ya!

Had exactly the same thing with mine from status. Stored in a cardboard box in the house until van was ready. Split six months after fitting.
