Just orderd new door seals all around, a few window seals and a few other bits, neaver delt with them before but Barckley was a top man gave me some discount and was patient with all off my daft questions. :D Just got to get the 1/4--3/4 window refitted now when it turns up. :?
Theres not many companys where i think that ive had a great personal service, but i got it form them.
Oh and i cant forget our Scott W for rapid delivery of the doors ;).

Prehaps we should start a list of suppliers that we have had good dealings with.

I agree 100%, Barclays a top fella, I ordered some seals & arranged to meet him at his premises on a Saturday to collect. Unknown to me he opened up especially for me :D

and maybe bad ones :) some people may have some mixed views. i find some companies a bit hit or miss.

the trouble i do see with having just good ones is that people never here about the bad ones and could end up getting a bad service. although the errors can be very frustrating, its how the companies resolve the errors can either make the difference for me.

i'll be speaking to barkley then when i order mine later this year. i think i will be going for all new door rubbers and window rubber - pretty much the whole works

Did'nt mention the bad ones cos i thought that it might turn into a slagging off thread, but it is good to know if people have had bad service from suppliers.

We only usualy hear about the bad service not the good, its good to promte the good.

I can start of with the good have also bought from T2D in the past few weeks they were helpful and friendly which goes a long way.

I've not been extremely impressed with the service I've had from any VW parts company recently, with the exception of Karmann Konnection.

Karmann Konnection were the only good service I've had recently, and one of the two items I've ordered is no longer available. The item has now been removed from their website. At least they kept in touch and let me know what was happening with the parts throughout, which is better than some I've had dealings with.

:)

Recently, all the private buys (through forums etc) I've had have been excellent though, makes up for it :)

the problem i have with a list of bad suppliers is that in the past especially on vzi it generally turns into a slagging match with loads of people jumping on the band wagon, then the full story comes to light and it turns out it wasn't all the suppliers fault.

I think a list of reputable suppliers would be a great idea especially for anyone just entering the scene

I agree to a large extent - being a newbie to the whole thing in my experience this is what happens:

- Have a problem
- Search around for a solution
- Pick the one that looks about right
- Google around for a parts supplier or search VZi / earlybay for a link to someone that has been used before
- Order the kit
- Try to fit it and find out it a) doesn't fit because you have a '68 and not a '71 b) you need more stuff :)

The actual supplier part is very small and issues are generally around delivery or stock availability as opposed to the actual part, what I REALLY need is a physical person I can take my bus to safe in the knowledge they understand air cooled and early bay... so a list of suppliers AND reputable garages would be really handy...

(I have had a bad and a good experience all from the same supplier, it is as haveacamper says - it is how the company deals with it that counts)

How about a recommendation thread?

This way it is highlighting your successes with a company. This way you are only talking about your experience.

I have ordered a huge amount of parts etc from companies from within the scene and each one has made a mistake somewhere down the line, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how well they have dealt with them. But there are companies who I would have to be desperate to buy from again.

I think the quality of parts in more of a concern to me at the moment.

yes got to agree i have found status A1 in all things i have bought very fast reliable service :D
