Hi,

Which steering box oil or grease should I use on my 71 early bay?

Cheers

Great - thanks. I think it has grease in it at the moment, put in by previous owner.

Get the grease out, they are designed so that any metal fillings sink to the bottom, grease keeps them in suspension where it acts like grinding paste :)

I have just bought some Millers Classic Worm Steering Box Oil from these guys-

fast delivery and very reasonable.

We now do a csatrol steering box lubricant

Cheers Alex - I order most of my bits from VWH anyway so will tag it on the next time.

I wanted to top up the oil in my steering box. I found the little red cap all the way up, and inaccessible with a normal pouring jug.
Can anyone tell this noob what tool I need for this job?

I THINK you can do it from inside the van using your standard gear oil bottle if you're careful- if not, get yourself a decent sized syringe from eBay or a giant with a heroin addiction, then a bit of rubber hose :) Job's a fish.
