Hi I know this has be covered but I have a different question stripped my spare box down and after a good clean on the inside I can't find any wear at all so what I want to know is when it's centered as in going straight I can adjust out all in and out movement in the drop arm spindle and it goes full left and full right no problems. But the further you go left or right the in and out movement of the drop arm spindle gets bigger .This I find strange as my experience go steering boxs is they wear in the middle and if you adjust them up the get tight the further you turn the wheel .Is this normal on a good box as I can't see it wearing in these places as the peg and worm Gera look perfect with no wear

If I'm reading it right, you're saying that you have no play when the steering is centred, and you get play the further away from central you are? If so, that's normal. Steering wheel play has to be tested with the wheels centred for this reason :)

If you read the manuals when adjusting the box you are supposed to feel light resistance at the centre point, not too much but thats shows the box is adjusted correctly, you have to adjust it when its on the bus and not on the bench the resistance is felt through the steering wheel not at the arm on the box.

Just make sure you fill it with steering box lube.

Cheers graham for the advice just looked at my bently manual and it says the same just wanted to get it right as I now have a really good box
