Steering column spline size

I bought a used steering wheel thinking it was the right size for my '72 crosser and it is too small to fit on the column, looks like about 17mm ID and mine looks to be about 21mm. Are all EB's the same size up to Late bay's ('73 ish?) and I've bought a Late Bay wheel? I just want to be sure as I need to sell it on.

don't quote me on this, but i would imaging your crossover will have a late steering box, and i think they made the splines for the steering wheel bigger and beefier at the same time

so i'd say that it sounds like you have bought an early wheel

i could be wrong, i often am lol

I'm afraid I think you are wrong, my crosser has an early steering box and thicker column by the looks of it. Looks like I bought an early, Late bay wheel, D'oh!
Hope I can sell it on via the Late bay.
