Where the outer steering column meets the floor, what "should" be there to keep the whole steering wheel assembly rigid?

Looks like there 'used' to be a rubber bung...now at slow speeds when turning the steering the whole thing moves slightly

The inner column seems fine (goes through floor to steering box etc.), drives and steers good, but the outer column bolts to the dash and then is just floating at the bottom.....

...cannot see anything on Heritages site that makes sense :?

plastic insulator dont know if you can get new, colum outer tube live to horn push.

I was wondering that too ..

My column tube is welded on the lower cover where the flanges are .. ( Love the word flange!!! says exactly what it is! )

That explains why my horn push is on the dash!

must be a common perishable item .. I haven't seen them available either ..

That'll explain the jubilee clamp at the base of our steering column then that I've never been inclined to investigate since we bought it then........

Seems to work though in whatever it's meant to be doing, there's no play in the column at all if that helps :D

Yeah .. it seems solid .. its welded ok ..

Thinking about it .. it probably stronger than the plastic bung!

Ill get a pic when im next at the bus ..
