Right then fellas - apologies for the delay in posting more pics but it has taken a few hours to clean Murphy up ready for Skeg Vegas tomorrow after 2500 miles of road grime and 2 weeks of living in him!

Right where were we - oh that's correct we had just arrived at the camping area just outside the SPA F1 racing circuit!
Let the games begin!

My initial idea of arriving early was based around people I have spoken to in the past telling me it gets busy and cramped pretty quickly so the earlier the better - and boy was the information correct! We scored an absolute peach of a spot to watch the action and arrivals from

We were right at the front of the grassy area looking directly at the entrance road ( :msn4: drag strip :msn4: ) with the huge hardstanding area opposite us.

So here we are all set up

Even on thursday morning it was getting busy - and bear in mind the show doesnt start officially till SAT ;)

You have to queue up when the ticket sales open in your vehicle so you can pay the aircooled rate rather than the watercooled. Best again to get in early before the queues got silly - although it didnt stop some prick jumping the queue in front of me on foot and showing the staff a pic of his beetle rather than driving it over. I was fuming

Clare and I decided that we would stack our empty bottles against the EarlyBay Banner infront of our setup and Foz and Mel decided we could have a competition for the most booze consumed - oh dear

Now onto Friday! Sore head and muddy knees for me! Still 1 day before the show officially starts! Foz and I are loving it however I am a little jaded and slighty hungover. And it is bloody boiling again

Great story so far - awaiting next instalment guys 8)

Lol - was halfway thru the first lot and stopped for din dins - then resumed and posted this not knowing youd put the next lot up already

Cheers for the comments fellas - right where was I?

Oh that's right Saturday - day 1 of the show and day 4 of our trip!

The idea on Saturday is to drive your aircooled vehicle onto the active side of the race track for a lap of the circuit.
However again due to inside information we knew to get over there as early as possible and get a decent place to park the bus along with everyone else and check the show out, so that was what we did. Due to how busy the camping area was I decided to get Murphy out early and park him up with on the strip before heading over to the circuit

The drive over was chaotic but fun and finding a parking space was slightly stressful

Foz was braver than us due to our brake issue on the way over and decided to take OIive on a "fast lap" of the circuit! Fair play with such a lovely bus especially with some of the nutters driving about the circuit

We moved our buses down from the first parking point closer to entrance of the track so we could watch all the cars/buses/porsche and so on queue up and do laps of the track

Decided after all the excitement of the day (and my dad and his two mates turning up) we would eat out at the aforementioned all inclusive bar - bloody bargain at €13 considering where we were! Bet it cost more than that F1 weekend

Ignore my muddy kneed jeans - I categorically did not fall into a dirty wet ditch the night before!

And then it was on to Sunday :D

Phew - just went through the pics and most excellent - really give a good feel of what the event and trip over was like :D
So jealous

Thought I would carry on the journey as I have a day off work today

Sunday was officially the show and shine day however none of us were feeling pretty chipper that day and only Clare and I managed to go over for a wander

Some nice vehicles about

Sunday afternoon arrived and loads of peeps began to pack up and make their way home - Foz and Mel decided to make a move back into Belgium to get a little closer to the tunnel for their journey home. Clare and I decided to ride out one final night at the SPA camping area before making our way into Germany to continue the rest of our holiday

Not many peeps left!

Next post will cover our trip further into Europe! :D

One the monday following the crazy weekend at SPA, Clare and I decided to get on our way.
The plan was to travel into mid Germany on our way down to the Black Forest region for a stop at a nice campsite I saw on the interweb

Into Germany!

wv5VG.jpg

We kept seeing signs for this place however after some research it simply means "EXIT"

aKSV3.jpg

After a few hours of driving we reached our destination - and as luck would have it we got the very last available camping spot

It was set in some stunning countryside

Lovely cold meat dinner prepared

Our second stop was made when we finally reached the Black Forest region itself - lovely campsite that had some fantastic facilities and a mid sized town only 10 mins walk away.

Ancient castle surrounded by vineyards

Beautiful greenery all around

GLpjy.jpg

A stepped river ran the whole length of the campsite and all the way into the town - was very peaceful after the manic time at SPA

After three days exploring we decided to make a move further east closer to the German/Swiss border for a change of scenery
According to the satnav it would be a straightforward trip however in Germany we have found there is a large programme of road building taking place to we had some "hilly" diversions to negotiate

After 3 days at the second black forest site we had to start to make our way north and towards home - we did some planning and decided to go for a long drive today and head for Luxembourg - circa 330 miles from where we where in the morning. Was a long day but worth it

zSoh6.jpg

COFZm.jpg

zWVDT.jpg

h5MzR.jpg

When we eventually arrived it was late afternoon - the awning needed drying out from being packed wet that morning and I was pretty tired. We only had one night at this site before heading on deeper into Belgium ready for the tunnel

DpKs3.jpg

1giOT.jpg

From this point on the camera decided to die and we didn't get any more pics - however we made Belgium and the trip back to Calais for the tunnel with no issues and landed back home exactly 2 weeks after leaving for SPA.

In all we covered around 2500 miles, visited France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Managed all this with no breakdowns or failures (apart from hot brakes) and had a fantastic time.

Upon returning we washed and dried our clothes - gave the bus a good clean headed off to Viva Skeg Vegas for a last weekend of madness before returning to work!

Pics to follow.

Apologies for taking a while to post further pics - been a busy time since returning from europe!
Since getting back we have travelled to Skeg Vegas and BusFest however we were having so much fun at Busfest we never took any pics!

Not like us at all!

Anyway - better late than never are some of the pics from Skeg Vegas, a brilliant show that we really really enjoyed and will return to next year!
