Well just fancied a good old winge about stuff really so here goes....

1) Engine breaks (not a big prob, save up and buy a new mexico engine)

2) Can't find one as everywhere's sold out!!!

3) New engine arrives a day late having spent a whole day in waiting for it!!

4) Ordered a few nice bits i.e oil temp gauge, tach, pulley etc (only half the order is correct!!!)

5) Ordered a new exhaust (hasn't turned up today as apparently my house doesn't exist even though no one elso has ever had any trouble finding it!!)

6) Rear engine mounting cross bar has been drilled out a bit so am having to get a friend who's an engineer to 'turn down' some bolts to make it all fit again yet more cocking about!!!!

7) FF's sake!!!

8) Ordered me new carbs.......yep you guessed it (one of the rose joints on the linkage was broke!!!

9) Taking my family out for the day tomorrow as planned and just know all missing bits will turn up and we won't be in (first time in 7 days)!!!!

When ever I try do order anything I get either **** service or ok service but then the bits don't actually arrive.....

Why's it always me!!!!

I'm dreading firing her up for the first time on wednesday!

Winge over ta

There's nothing wrong with having a winge - it can't always be bad though, your luck will change soon I'm sure! One thing's for sure, your bus will rock with all those new goodies! 8)

;)

Cheers fella

Sometimes you do wonder why these people ever go into business if they can't be bothered!!!

Chin up eh as we might just make it to the Jamboree this coming weekend 8)

Know what you mean , I ordered some new shocks, when they arrived we were both at work , the delivery driver left a card saying I could pick them up at their depot , a round trip of 130miles !

I tend to get stuff left next to my bin cupboard no cards or anything, then discover them soaked through and crawling with slugs and spiders.. :(

Books aswell :x

In fact hang on i'm awaiting a book now thats bloody late best go and check...

Just had the same problem (and not for the first time) with a Bike Rack from JK. Followed it on the tracker and the day my wife stayed in all day waiting for it which was supposed to be the delivery day i didnt arrive. It arrived at the delivery branch at 6am but still sat there all day. Then it was the weekend so no delivery and then luckily it turned up mid morning Monday just before my wife went down to Cornwall.
Couriers are **** on the whole. Hate having to use them. Moan over
Hopefully see you at Jambo Fraggle, come and have a drink.

I get 99% of my mechanical stuff through GSF over the counter at my local VW specialist. 90% of there work is now watercooled so they work like a modern garage fixing peoples daily drivers, they are very busy. They say that if most motor factors treated customers like the major aircooled traders did they would quickly go bust. Don't accept **** service or excuses, if a supplier gives you bad service or cocks up, take your business elsewhere and tell them you are going to aswell.

I recently told VW Heritage that -after a spate of order cock ups (wrong parts, faulty parts, delayed parts etc).

They told me to go right ahead.

I am glad that the company that I work for does its up most to get things done for the customer and puts them first above there own pride :D I know I don't sell vw parts I mean we sell design and printing in the end, but we always try our best to give the customer what he/she wants as a company, rather than be that single person and get pissed off cause someone moans at you.

Some people at our place take things so personally, when you ask them if they could look something up, they moan because they says its not there job or they are to busy, yet it is there job and if I was at the computer I would do it, but they don't move there fat ass, sorry rant over.

My point is, I feel it a shame that we are losing good customer service just because people feel hard done by or are having a bad day, I have bad days but I still try, I know customers can be a pain sometimes, but still they give you money and allow your company to do well for its self.

We should just set up our own little community of part selling and repairs with good service to all, all live by the beach and live off coconuts if that is possible :D

Whos in? 8)

mmmmmmm. coconuts :D Must admit I ordered a heat exchanger, some seals and gaskets from JK last thursday 1.30 pm and they arrived next day, well packed and correct, also when ever I order bits for my Sunbeam Alpine from A perticular specialist they always come the next day whatever time I order, its not that hard, its their buisness, Im a carpenter if I turn up on the wrong day with the wrong tools someone else is going to get the job. I say name and shame the baddies and big up the goodies.

I order alot of my stuff from Barclay at Status VW he has a better range that Heritage and he even gives me a discount :D :D :D

I cannot recommend him highly enough AND i would encourge ANYONE who has had ***** service from some of the larger Vw spares companys who couldnt give a Flying F##k if you dont order from them or not .....

To TRY Status Vw parts service from someone who does care about his customers ......Because that is Priceless

Well said, I deffo think naming and shaming is the way to go - Gadget, do you have contact details for Status? The decent firms need support and praise...

;)

Thats what we like personal recomendations must admit I've heard good things about Status pity at shows they never seem to have the obscure bit I want when I can remember I want it? (think that makes sense)

i run my own buissness and think that i go out of the way for 99%of customers, some cant be pleased tho.

in turn i use 3 or 4 supliers spending a good £10000 a month and still get fobed of by them at least every other day, prob is (like some of the bigger vw supliers) they know there is a limited amount of competition that keep the wide range of stock they do.and in the end you have to go back to them.

its the same with old vdub stuff,if gsf did the whole range that say heratige do,we would prob all use them ,if not just to save on postage.but if you run a 68 bus alot of the stuff you want they dont do,so you have to go back to the people that have let you down time and time again :(

TRY Status Vw parts service

I bought my excellent roofrack from Status last year at Vanfest (very pleased with it too), only to find the it would not fit properly as one of the brackets was badly made. No problem - they exchanged without question at the Breeze so good on them.

Only trouble is that even on the second one the brackets were not 100% - not enough to complain about and I can easily resolve the problem but they had clearly not been properly checked at the factory.

So in short I'd use & recommend Status every time, but I'd also double check on the manufacturing quality of whatever I'd bought just in case.

Right, only been in the UK for 9 years but I've spent thousands and thousands and here's my round up...

Hall of Fame:

Karmann Konnection- expensive but TOP C.S.
Stateside Tuning- excellent
Big Boys Toys -rubbish in the past but now among the best
Slook Designs- top blokes, top service
Just Kampers- excellent when parts in stock- ring to make sure
Machine 7- fast delivery
C & C - superb all round
Cool Air- good
Bernie Newbury- very very good
Eurocarb- these guys are TOPS for giving free advice

Hall of Shame:

Heritage SSP- really the lowest of the low
Bluebird Customs- good product but terrible service and slow delivery
GSF- always out of stock or send me the wrong parts
Spirit of the 50s- product can no longer justify shockingly poor service

I'll add to this list as I trawl through my old receipts

Bluebird Customs- good product but terrible service and slow delivery

... and add to that the almost laughable quality of their instructions. They should be done for employing the ten year old sho appears to have done them! Shame as the awning and shelf that I got from them are fine, its just the matter of having to work it all out for yourself that lets them down.

Now I have always found Bluebird to be great.
