support bar

quick question
how much support does the engine support bar actually give? could i jack the engine up to support the weight then remove to bar to clean it up and repaint it? or is this a silly idea?

if yours is 68 all the engine is held in with is suport bar and gearbox nose mount.suport under sump with jack,remember you will have to remove exhaust as well,remove rear vallance as this will give more room,make it shiny

i shall make it shiny, thank you for advice - recently fitted a new exhaust but it touches support bar and rattles - was told i could cut a nick out of the bar safely but wanted to ask around first
