I've read this thread thoroughly because I have bought a pair of Kadrons + 2 single port manifolds on eBay USA.

I was about to buy a 009, but thanks to you guys, I didn't :mrgreen:

I've decided to drill my Kadrons to fit a vacuum port and buy a SVDA distributor.

Can someone tell me if it is OK to fit a stock SVDA ( which costs 99 euros where I live in France), or if it is really worth paying more for a SVDA modified by AJ Simms or http://www.aircooled.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in the States ?

stock dissy : http://www.vwheritage.com/bbt/Stock-Aircooled/VW-Camper-Van-Parts/Bus-Parts-1968-79/Electrical/Ignition-Starter/?srchPart=043%2D905%2D205" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

aircooled.net modified dissy : http://www.aircooled.net/new-bin/viewproductdetail.php?keyword2=IGD0001&cartid=1124200818781582" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

thanks,

Paddy

I run a stock one on my bug.

In theory it should be OK, although the advance curve won't be quite the same as the AJ Simms one.

If I were you, I'd buy (and refurbish) a cheap secondhand SVDA if you can. If you pick up one with no noticeable wear it will be better than the repro tat made now.

That then means if it doesn't work as expected, you won't have lost out on much :)

The £99 one is a genuine VW/Bosch 034.

There are lots of different stock dissys, I have a refurbed 205T that doesn't work well with a 34PICT,
you might have some trial and error finding the right one for your setup

I'd pay the extra (€140 inc. del. here) and go for the 034. :wink:

If you mean the 113-905-205T, that distributor is not meant to be used with a 34Pict ;) - it isn't even an SVDA!

I'm a student so I consider the cheapest way round a problem to be the best, as long as quality isn't affected ;)

To be on the safe side and also because I'm not as gifted in mechanics as Tofufi, I decided to go the aircooled.net route. They seem to have a very good reputation ( even though they were not very talkative when I emailed them a few questions :? ). I'll let you know the results :wink:

If someone is looking for a genuine SVDA 034, I've just found this ad

Regards,

Paddy

Actually, the new stuff on aircooled.net are backordered, so I ended up buying the genuine SVDA 034 :mrgreen:
I'll let you know the results when I fit them.
