tail gate seal

dear all

my tail gate seal is leaking in the heavy rain it is a good quality german one but i was wondering if i had fitted it correctly

anyone got any pics????

Is the tailgate sitting flush with the rear corners? You could adjust the tailgate by loosening the hinge bolts and moving it further in,same with the lower catch,you could move it in a bit to sit tighter.Fitment of the seal should be straightforward,just push it into the groove.Is it definately the tailgate seal and not the window seal in the tailgate thats leaking?

Open the tailgate and look at where the hinge bolts on to the tailgate,it is bolted with two allen key bolts per hinge,just loosen them slightly and move the tailgate to where you want it and tighten them back up.It will also move up and down as well as in and out so after each adjustment, slowly lower the tailgte incase it catches the bodywork.The lower striker plate where it locks into is the same,loosen the two bolts and move it to where you want it.It might take a few attempts to get the right compromise between sitting nice and closing easily.
