Hello one and all,got myself some midland wheel fuch's from vanfest. They are 5.5" x 15".I'd like some white walls to suit but am struggling to find some.Any one got any info as to where or who to try?
Also i have a spare 1300 engine that is going in an early beetle i have.Does any one know what is the max size new barrels and pistons i could use in the 1300 casing.I would like to make the beetle much quicker,is upping the piston/barrel size the best way.? What other things can i do to acheive speed?.I can do any engine work /alterations needed, what i don't have is the best metod or idea on how to do it.Any thoughts or ideas gratefully received.
Thank God for Guinness!

You can use 1600 or 1641 b&p's in a 1300 , but you will need a pair of 1600 heads. I had a 1600 twinport engine in my last Beetle with a pair of Kadron carbs and a different exhaust which went well for daily use.

How much do you want to spend on the engine as it can get very expensive quite quickly?

can go 1679 walls thin on barrells though so no long hi speed motorway work.
our drag race beetle has 1679 with fly cut 1300 heads ported etc this gives 10 to 1 compresson :!: needs super unleaded to stop pinking.120 cam ,twin36 webers.of the shelf exhaust headers.009 diz.and no cooling.striped out interior.has run best 14.92@88mph.
this set up would be ok if after street racer setup.cooling system needs to be 100% with deep sump and remote oil cooler with fan.recon making 95 to 100 bhp to run these times. quick budget motor.
