timing light thoughts

Hi guys!

Can I ask for your opinions on the best timing light to buy please. On a budget but happy to hear all suggestions!

I bought a really old school Gunson one off ebay, seemed to do the trick, like this one

Been looking on fleabay, is it worth getting one with auto advance or is that facility just for newer vehicles?

I went for an AccuSpark SP8000 off fleabay (think i paid about £40).

I read through this article and just compared the features I needed with what was out there.

I did the static timing first, then with the strobe, timing is now spot on.

I use one where you can dial the advance in which is spot on for my ghia as this has a 009 so it just means I dial in 30degd and time against TDC.

It can also be used to measure the dwell for accurately setting the points.
