Our Bus is 1971 left hand drive and the fan belt on it currently is a toothed fan belt. I ordered a spare fan belt a while back and was going to fit it today and realised it did not have these teeth and was smooth all the way round (v shaped). Is there a difference between the two and did I order the wrong one? I have been reading this thread but non the clearer -

Damn, I should have swapped it over but I was worried it was the wrong one! Still Ill keep it as a spare for the time being.

Many thanks again!

The toothed ones tend to be for dynamo/generators and the smooth ones for alternators, they are slightly different in both width and length.

It doesn't make a blind bit of difference, as long as the belt is the right length and width either will be fine.
