durham.....its nice
My bus is running (or will be when I get another starter motor) a 1500sp. It's a Westy tin top but is bare inside and will be getting a full width bed and not much else fitted. I have a '82 Rapido folding caravan weighing 600Kg on the plate. Will the bus be up to towing it to the local shows?
Oh and I'm 20st too   :msn4:

I have a '71 Bay with a Campmobile interior and have been on the lookout for an Eriba Puck (similar weight to your Rapido) to tow with mine. I haven't taken the plunge yet.

I have the same concerns and wonder if my 1600 engine has enough guts for the job. From the little research that I have done others have towed with bays without too much problem on the flat - I understand that things slow down a tad when attacking inclines!!

As already said above - more time to enjoy the journey!

Get an early puck if in your price bracket.

I cant remember the cutoff year but the early 60's ones are much lighter than the later ones.

My 64 was well under 400kg and towed easily with a 1.2 fiat 500

Kiss my balls!

Well, ball  :msn4:

It's not so much pulling them it's trying to stop, make sure your brakes are top notch and working stop on. People always forget this and think yeah its pulling this fine until they have to hit the stop pedal!!!

Ive had an early Puck, and a Rapido amongst other things, and 3 kids & a dog and to be honest you wont notice the difference between a couple of hundred kgs when towing. As for braking, both the Eriba and the Rapido will be braked, so its like throwing an anchor out when the trailer brakes come on. I actually have to adjust my braking distances without a trailer........I now have a heavier Pan, but then again I have a large engine so that's by-the-by......

Steep hills will be slow, but then again that's nothing new! If you have a 1600 with a single carb it might be worth getting ICTs and a decent exhaust (performance) and get set up on the rollers, this should get you around 53-55hp which is about 15% increase if your actually making the original 47bhp(!!) and that makes a big difference.......
