ive just had a new long block from steve strong engines covered 500 miles and changed the oil , all is well really good quality engine

now heres my question i have no mechanical knowledge at all (bit thick) my engine has a single solex carb but my old block and my new block are both twinport. can anyone explain what this is all about

cheers

twin or single port refers to the way the fuel/air mix enters the cylinders via the heads., (excuse the ****** diagrams)

single= (O)
twin= (OO)

its the manifold that makes the difference rather than the number of carbs.

This is a twin port head, you can see the two ports where the fuel/air mixture enters from the carb via the manifold.

i see ... i think in other words its a slightly more powerful engine :lol:
Technically, yes, but my single porter seems to me to go better at low revs and uses less petrol (it seems). ;)

i'd say about right i get between 25 (windy)-31 ish(slight wind) and i'm well happy with that. :mrgreen:

That's about right, you might get a bit more on the Motorway with a tail-wind or less with a head-wind. :lol: As for side winds just hope you can stay in your lane :shock: & bugger the fuel economy. :roll:
