Car currently has Michellin 155R15 82S fitted

Am I right in thinking that VREDESTEIN QUATRAC 3 - 155/60 R15 74T would be compatible on the same Axle as the tyre above.

Is the "60" -ie the "Height of the tyre sidewall as a percentage of the width" measurement important ?

I'm assuming speed and load rating aren't an issue for a Beetle and don't have to match existing tyres on same Axle...?

Thanks for any help - Hope it's OK putting a non bus question up....?

Yes if you want it to be the same size as the one you're replacing it with!

The Michelin has got this number missing that you've quoted - it will be on the tyre somewhere as this needs to be known when purchasing new ones. Take another look, or pop a picture up of said Michelin tyre?

Standard aspect ratio for a 155 15 is actually 80%, not 60%. So, the tyres will be of a lower profile. I assume this is for a beetle? The Vredestein Sprint Classic is the "correct" size. Alternatively the same manufacturer do a 165/80/15 in the "T-Trac". Doesn't muck up your speedo too much and they're good quality for the price- although the tread pattern isn't really to my taste I can't really base my decision on that.

Thanks for the comments - So you pay about £40 extra for being narrower by 10 millimetres ! (155 v 165) - I guess its wrong for many reasons to have different tyre widths on the same Axle as one side of the car would stop quicker than the other !

I take your point the "Classic" does look better but not sure if it looks £50 better !

Thanks Again!

Exactly why I went for the T-Trac this time ;-) Although if you shop around I believe you can get the Sprint Classic for about £60.

And yes, the contact patch will be different. You'll be able to turn more aggressively one way than the other!
