Hi all,

After a catastrophic fail at my MOT, I'm looking at a few of the jobs I can tackle myself to keep the price down.

My bus doesn't have full beam operated from the indicator stalk, though I have been led to believe the only thing stopping it from working is the relay not having the correct wiring?

Am I right in thinking it's a quick fix with a Euro spec relay and a little bit of extra wiring?

Any help appreciated!

Cheers
George.

Sorry to hear about the MOT failure.
Most likely the Headlamp Relay or associated wiring or the Indicator Switch.

it depends in what way it doesn't work. if it works from dipped beam (dash switch) to full beam on the indicator then I think this should be a pass. If it doesn't then a bit of fault finding is required, could be a loose terminal, bad 4 pin relay (or like mine, dirt inside it).

A 5 pin relay and an extra wire would allow you to 'flash' headlights using the indicator stalk - but i wasn't aware this was an MOT item.

Ah! I have no full beam operation at all, I thought it was something that had to be added to import models.

Is it likely the fault is in the indicator stalk? I have no full beam/dash light for the full beam at all

Could be, but if I were you I'd check for

blown fuses,
loose wires
Dirt/water in the relay
And then
If that didn't solve it then get your miltimeter out and check the indicator. Don't take too much apart as it's likely to one of the top 3 (having said that, you'll need to pull the dash gauges forward to check your cables)

Unless of course your indicator switch has had a known problem with you

Thanks for getting back to me,

checked all the obvious, wires/fuses and it's had a new relay - turns out it was the connection in the stalk. I'll hopefully repair instead of replacing!
