UPDATE: I'm adding my very nice Original Westy Tent, this is a great opportunity that won't come around often to buy a very unique Westfalia earlybay Poptop!
I bought this unique camper 3 years ago, she was complete, original paint in most areas with minor ding and dents and your basic used but not abused interior. Rust was limited to my recollection to a small patch on the driver floor, the small outer rocker section behind the rear driver wheelwell and a spot or two on one of the doors? Very minimal work needed, she was my keeper because of her rarity, her color(my wife liked the blue!), and the layout inside as I have a growing family.
She was fixed up and resprayed the beautiful original Niagra Blue color that is seldom seen on campers, I brought her home and then had a good friend go at her interior. Fresh new hardwood floors, incredible wood paneling throughout, and then reaasembled on the outside. she turned heads!
And then the paint started going funky on me! she's faded out in areas, turning lighter and with yellowish tints in areas. also a mosaic like cracking in areas that have taken the brunt of our so cal sun. The paint needs to be stripped down to metal and then resprayed! No rust is showing anywhere, but again, a complete exterior respray is needed if you want her to look like she does on the inside, which I'd rate as a 10!
This Westy is a rare Houston (US-Version of Helsinki) model. Some of the cool differences are the full width Z bed. The extra foot of space where the regular cabinet would go sure makes a difference when sleeping at night. It's also a walkthrough with extra cabinet space behind the driver seat. She has the removable swivel table as well. What I really like about this camper was she came with her original Continental Bed up top, she had faded and ripped og plaid up there but was missing the small section that folded down on the end. Two of my sons slept up there fine though, it's perfect for kids as theuy can climb up and down.
Also came with a German gas heater, not hooked up but still back there and appears complete.
Curtains on the inside are cool Hawaiian print, outside plaid is faded and could use some new color. i added the aluminum side step, the rear jail bars, the dash trays in the front, and a few other cool accessories I've been collecting. New canvas up top with new seal all the way around. Coco front floor matts, dash carpet,, nice bumpers with splash guards in the rear, deluxe front grill trim, and mostly new seals all the way around and I believe a new front windshield?? Front seats were newly covered, but then I found these out of a 72 i believe with the head rests, which are a huge upgrade especially with the rear cabinet behind the drivers head and in case of a whiplash from getting hit in the rear. Safety never goes out of style! My plan was to recover them but just haven't yet??
Comes with a nice Mosquito Net and childs cot for up front too. Coolers in back pics are included as well. tires are in good condition, spare looks to be a brand new one. Seatbelts in front still not all bolted in, so much for my safety and style!
Obviously with any 40 plus year old classic, there are little things that need to be done and redone that I haven't mentioned. Comes with a nice replacement steering wheel as well. Interior was not repainted except for the front floors.
I don't want to sell her, but I'm open to it if the right offer comes around. I've sold some very reasonably priced vans and campers, but this is my own and one of a kind.
Engine is a fresh stock rebuild, nothing fancy, less than a few thousand miles if that on her in the past year and a half, probably under a 1k. But I'm willing to sell without as well, again, just a basic rebuild. I did notice that after the engine change, the shifting was a bit stiffer in and out of gears but haven't driven her in the past 8? months to see if it would loosen up. Never popped any gears either.
New rebuilt brake booster too.
She's been sitting and will need a tuneup and brake adjustment look over etc.
I charged the battery and she started right up. sometimes it takes a turn or 2 of the key for the starter to kick in?? Radio is not hooked up. I didn't wash prior to pictures, she's dirty but you can tell what's happened to the paint.
She'd look even better with fresh paint, some deluxe trim, and dropped a bit w/ new rims and tires!
Shipping time is approx 6-8 weeks to either Tilbury or Thamesport at $1600 my cost or an extra 300 pounds to Derbyshire area where money can be saved on the other fees and taxes buyer is responsible for. VAT is buyers responsibility as is MOT.
Make me an offer, but I'm not giving her away. Please look at campers in your price range, compare them with this camper, understand the cost of a new respray, shipping costs as I had mentioned and your VAT based on a Bill of Sale YOU PROVIDE ME, and then your MOT. Again, I don't want or need to sell her, but she's not getting the attention she deserves and maybe someone out there just has to have this very rare and unique Westfalia Camper.
Price is 9500 pounds to the UK Port
Feel free to call w/ questions or email Pacific Time, references in the UK available.
Cheers
