Van ignition key

I am wanting to get some more keys done for our van (it's a 1969 Westy) but I can't get the code for the lock or key, has anyone got any ideas from the key pictured?

Try taking the key to Timpsons or any key cutting shop. Timpsons had a look at our key then checked his book and ordered one in. Went back a few days later got the key cut, £7, job done!

It looks like a very similar profile to mine, and Timpson's could not match it. Tried a local locksmith who could source a mirror image of the profile but not the actual one. They both looked in numerous catalogues but with no joy.

If it is a 'L' series key you can get VW ones here.....

If all your after is the code then as long as it serves both the ignition and doors you can remove the door barrel and the numbers embossed on that, otherwise its a case of removing the ignition barrel a bit harder but still doable....

....would suggest removing the sliding door barrel - that's just a matter of undoing one philips screw on the inside and the handle just pulls out from the outside. The code is embossed on the outside of the handle mechanism. Should take no more then 30 seconds. (correct for '68')

There is a guy on Ebay who cuts keys to number - it is better to do this than to copy keys.

Next day delivery. Give him a bell , and maybe send him a photo - seems to know his stuff, he'll probably be able to sort it for you ,

That's the guy. After much searching, I bought a VW embossed blank for £3.50 plus 75p for postage (any number) and had it cut at my local lock shop yesterday for £3. It works perfectly. KK charge £9.60 for the blank and £12 for cutting to your lock number.
