Seem to have a problem with my van stuttering and lose of power when cold. Everything has been running fine for the last 400 miles but when i start the van, for the first 5 mins, it ticks over fine but when I try to accelerate, the revs start to build up and then nothing, lose of power. It doesn't stall. Once it is warm, it runs absolutely fine. I have checked the points and will check the timing and plugs today but as mentioned all runs lovely when warm. I have a 200 mile drive ahead of me so just want to make sure I check there is nothing about to go pop during the drive back!
Any ideas where I should look next?

As always, many thanks to everyone on here for there help and advice :)

Many thanks, will crack open the manual and see if I can find any info on the choke. Is there anything in particular that I should look at?

When the engine is cold, take the air cleaner pipe off the top of the carb. Operate the throttle once to release the stepped cam - it should spring round a few steps. The choke flap should be closed or partially closed (depending how cold it is). Gently push the flap open with you finger, when you release it it should spring back to its closed/partially closed position.

Just an update to close this thread with how this problem was resolved -

As I the engine needed a bit of a service, I changed the, plugs, leads, distributor, rotor arm, points, condenser and re timed the engine and the problem seems to have disappeared.

I will update this thread if it re appears.
