Right, just getting the paperwork together for registering the van and when ive got the us cert of ownership the vin no begins with 228? Can this be right for a 1968? Unfortunately the bus isn't here to check against. Also the 386 papers say 1988 is this going to create big problems down the DVLA?

How many numbers in the VIN?
9 for 1968 - 1969 MY.
1st 2 digits denote model specification, 3rd is model year, and the remaining 6 are the serial number.
For example; 228 *** ***

10 for 1970 - 1979 MY.
The extra digit is the 4th and would be a 2.
For example; 2282 *** ***

So if your bus has 9 digits, the 1st three would denote 22 (microbus), 8 (1968 model year).
If it has 10, then it's still a microbus, but a 1978....
