VW Birth Certificate AutoMuseum Volkswagen

Hi just had an email back from the AutoMuseum Volkswagen regarding birth certificate for our 68 Westy (m plate date 29.05.68),it reads:
We are unable to research the data of your Volkswagen (vin no 238 167 436) because the microfiche regarding the chassis number of your car is crumbling and illegible.
The only information which was to be read is the production date 25.06.68.
Worrying news if the data is disappearing for our old vans/campers etc....
Any one else had an email like this ?

I've read this before people with bugs an splits that this is the case but I figured it was only really early ones but guess not its goin to make getting the age of your buses a lot harder

That's the link I used and it's the Museum that came back with the microfiche reply.
Sods law everything seems to difficult for 68 year vans.Wouldn't change her though......
