Later this afternoon my wife finds out if she has a new job in Toulouse 8)

Even better she says me and the kids and the dog can go with her

Not a bad spot to be in with your van but does anybody know if there is much of a VW scene in France and whether I'll be able to find somebody to help with those mystery oil leaks? It would be nice to have support available after that long drive south and I think those Pyrenees might test the new clutch quite thoroughly.

Last weekend was the Super VW Nationals in France

I met the Kombi Kruiser Klub in Hosseiger last summer, Ill post some pics later

Nice one Clem- I'd love to see them. Thanks for the tip on Kombiporsche Johnny- I didn't realise EB had a French contingent.

The job is now in the bag so it'll be time for some sun on the tintop once we've flogged the house. Maybe I should stick it on the For Sale section.

Hey, I'm French too, and I lived in toulouse for 5 years !
There are 2 VW shops in the Toulouse area : Speed Shop ( my favourite, very nice guys ) and Road Service ( good too ).

http://speedshopfrance.com/

ROAD SERVICE
Dirigeant Richard ESNAULT
Adresse 9 rue aristide berges
Code postal 31840
Ville AUSSONNE
Téléphone 05 61 85 63 25

If you visit them, you should be able to find out about VW meets in the area.

Good luck with your new life under the sun !

arf, Paddy has been faster than me

Both shops are very good places to buy good stock & performance stuff

you can also check : http://speedshop.skynetblogs.be/

And a very helpfull club in Toulouse : http://nsr.skynetblogs.be/

Bye!

8) Merci Beaucoup!

I'm getting even more excited now. My nearest VW specialist in the north east is a secretive but excellent establishment in Newcastle so two on the doorstep will be very good indeed. Good looking club pics too- they may laugh at a rusty Danbury but I shall hold my head up proudly.

Have merci!

Some very nice bugs and KGs on those websites as well as that very nice Early bay panel van at speedshop. I feel I may need to eliminate all signs of rust, lower a bit and buy some new wheels before i go but I'll probably just keep trying to fix the mystery oil leak!

Seriously though, thanks for the info- I was a little worried... my sister in law is Danish and just dismisses all vws as Hitler's clogs.

I live north of Toulouse in the Lot vally (about 2 and a bit hours drive) and yes there is a VW scene here. The websites are a litttle chaotic compared to british ones and can be a bit harder to navigate at times but most events and meets are posted up here -

flatforever.com

vw-camper.fr

Here you can see there are lots of events, outings and get togethers.

Might be fun to meet up when your down here - let us know :)

Thanks for all the help.

And Trikky- I know the Lot valley a bit one of my mates lived near Gourdon running a bar with the French woman he was going out with. Had some great visits but they split up in the end :( .
We're planning to get out and about a bit once we get there so I'll pm you, if we found anybody else nearby we could set up the first EB French meet!

Quite a few people from france then.

Our plans are to move over there as well when we return from our holiday.

we are looking at the vendee region, closeish to her parents and easy links back to UK. good weather and decent surf as well.

will be taking my van over with me.
