Wanted: Type 4 engine Thermostat Bellows and cable

I believe the thermostat is the same as a type 1 engine.

Type 1 thermostats can be modified to work on a type 4, I did one on my old van. If I remember correctly you can swap the bosses over to allow the type 4 cable to be fixed. They do have slightly different operating temperatures, but it still works. I think I found the info on the Samba.com. Hope this helps.

Thanks buddy. Yes I thought this was the case. Mines a 72 so has th same operating temp as a Type 1. The 85-90 came with the 74 onwards I think
