That's alot of money for a Westy. You should find them easy for that. Might wish to import one from America and get a really pristine one for that dosh.

You can try:

*here
*ebay.co.uk
*thesamba.com
*Autotrader.co.uk

i'm looking on these and
onlyaircooled
kieftenklok
fbivw
southwestsplitz
classycampers
rccimports
thecoolvw
dubfinder
etc
etc :)

Most of those are premium resellers, so there is a large chunk of the cost as profit for the middle-man.

try vzi as well. For example, this one:

FCC imports! Christ there expensive. Have you spoke to graham L on here? He might have something or help with the import for you

i know, but i'm looking on every site i can think of just to gauge market value etc. on the prowl hehe.

i realise that the cheapest option would be sourcing my own bus from the states and organising shipping. however, unless i can drop everything and shoot over to the states to view a bus then i am either relying on honest pictures or knowing someone close to the bus in question to view it on my behalf.

i have been in contact with Graham L and he, as always, has been helpful.

yes i have seen this one thanks, its also advertised on here. however, as the first sentance of my thread says, it must me a poptop! hehe

You could get a tin opener out but that would be criminal :msn4:

In my searches, I've come to realise just how much of a premium is paid in the UK for vans, be they imported or otherwise. Found a California/Florida '70 Westy that looks pretty straight and clean for less than $3,000 but wouldn't know the first thing about importing to be able to get it. Likewise, 1964 VW Deluxe 21 window $5k.

Still, I guess that's the point of using import specialists - they do the bits you can't do - and they're running it as a business so should rightly make a profit. After all, something is only worth as much as you're willing to pay for it and it seems we're willing to pay the big money.

Anyway, £8-9k is a good price point. You've seen the few on dubs4sale in that ballpark? Avoid the orange one in Hook - nasty!!

I am, mate. Sorry. PM me and i'll find you an American-sourced Westy. Can it be a late Bay or Vanagon Westy?

as vanagon man says i'm ideally after a crossover because i need the gearbox bell housing mount for the porsche engine. i will consider earlier, but ideally a crosser.

i want an unwelded OG paint - reason being i dont want any surprises if/when i paint it in a couple of years. i suppose i will consider a bus that has had its battery tray replaced as this is common, so maybe a little paint :)

i want a poptop westy

panels have to be very straight wiith minimal dings

underside should be rust free, as should the body.

westy interior pretty complete and in good nick as i want to use the bus and upgrade things in slow time - you never know i may end up liking the westy interior hehe.

cheers for all of your help guys. i am not expecting you to constantly look for a bus for me, i just wanted to put the feelers out and see if anyone knew of a bus that matches my criteria. :)

NaFe
