Hi all

I'm currently restoring a 1968 Westi bay.

Currently looking at the pop top, roof hinged at front. Cut the rotting canvass out on Friday afternoon (and had a few fights with breeding flies! Big ones too, about 100 buggers) :)

The wood is all rotten, so my question(s) are as follows:

-How do I join new wood to the fibre glass roof (what glue/bond would people choose)?
-Has any one reinforced the roof to bolt a roof rack directly to it to carry surfboards? I was thinking of aluminium extrusions, about 10mm thick.
-If I was to reinforce the roof/fibre glass pop top do I then need to reinf the hinges above the drivers cab? :?

Any help would be good on this,

Thanks in advance.

Greg

use sikkaflex or any good generic PU glue to stick your wood in try to clamp it while it dries
ive known it take a few days if its really cold

Re the rack speak to slim adi on here he works for Design 21 and I know they built a hinged rack affair for a Dormy I think, they like one offs and pricing is really good

not sure I'd be too happy just bolting through the fibreglass and using a bit of extruded ali
