westy veneer

Just wondered if anyone has re veneered any westy furniture, or repleced with new wood. would like to make some new furniture to match the bits i already have,and replace the bed front.does anyone supply veneered ply in the correct cherry colour, or good matching veneer?
Have checked out vohringer,but not sure how well it matches the og.Mine is the lighter early coulour.Thanks,Steve.

Hi,

I'm re-laminating my westy furniture, not using the original colour, personally thought it was too dark - each to their own. Formica have the largest range of lamination sheets but are also the most expensive, I'm using a company called Blackheath Products, a lot cheaper and the same product really, but don't have the range of Formica, which if you're matching you need. Its easy to strip the old stuff off by the way, get a heat gun and a scraper and away you go!

i done mine got the laminate from the builders merchant about 40 guid a sheet
tub of evo stick and stuck it on,went for a light oak

Ive been doing mine today gone for dark teak colour £35.10x4 sheet from plasman in Manchester a word of warning when removeing the old its Fxxkin sharp

lol yeah I did mine, and I saw a lot of blood too, its not as hard as you would think, an it looks 100% better, just take your time. and be carefiull when removing the old laminate.

ouch ,that looks painfull! Think I will check out my local builders merchants.Im really after a good match on the origional though. At bus freeze i saw a bulkhead westy with all the og westy kit in the back, but with what i'm sure was a homemade cooker and sink unit across the bulkhead.The veneer match was near perfect though.Wish i'd have left my email on the windscreen now ,so i could find out where he got the wood from.It was in the show and shine area if anyone knows whos it was!
