I know this is probably a really stoopid question but what fuel do these here " Early Bay " fings run on , is it 4 star or unleaded , looking at getting one and wondered if i`d be able to dump unleaded in it or not ???? HELP dudes .

cool speedwell68 thanks for quick reply , just need a van to put it in

I make all our company lease cars&vans fill up at supermarkets as its cheaper but would not consider putting it in my bay as they use loads of additives and mix there own thats why its so cheap :)

I had a bit of a theory on all of this, only a theory. A VW aircooled is designed to run on 91 octane fuel, so they ignition is timed accordingly. So as we are running on 95 octane fuel is it possible to advance the ignition slightly and gain more power and economy. Would you be able to advance it slightly further if you used 97 octane super unleaded? In theory a greater advance curve will make the engine run slightly cooler too.

In theory yes!
It's worth remembering that it is possible to use unleaded in a vehicle that has not had hardened valve seats fitted as long as you take some precautions... Revving is the enemy of the unconverted engine, especially for extended periods (motorway driving at 65mph) - if in doubt add a Lead-Replacement additive.
Heads are so cheap now that swapping them over isn't out of the question!

;)
