When I first started looking at VW's about 5 years ago I thought the westies were ugly with their poptops and dated orange/wood interior. As time has gone by and I've seen the various westies on here I've liked them more and more, and now I'm hankering after one.
So, what is it about a Westfalia?

I dunno.
But i know what you mean.
If i ever sold mine (other than being skint) itd be for a westy.

A earlybay poptop westy is in my eyes the most practical and timeless vw camper of all times, sure a latebay westy is even more practical but the classic look of a earlybay did it for me.
And the used materials for the interior are way better then that from a latebay and more cult!!

As per Dirty Harry ^ I find the materials used inside the Westy are a nice quality, I also really like the layout and look of it compared to my old late bay that had a custom interior with all the units down one side.

I also really like that Westfalia used a sun roof van instead of cutting a great big hole in the roof like my old Devon, which really was a ruff old hole once you took all the seal and roof lining off.

Personally for me it's timeless. A westy is gonna look and perform the best ( assuming it's looked after ) for years to come. I love it but it's not everyone's cup of tea. As they are fairly common I'm sure some prefer the exclusivity of another conversion. It would be very boring if we were all into the same buses

Oh by the way, you can't beat a white westy!

I think you guys are right about being timeless, but they just look so useable, just pack up and go. Eat, sleep and live in the bus.

and if you go to a friends wedding with a free bar, you can drink like its going out of fashion from early afternoon and then comfortably sleep all night with your winkle pickers on

Love it. More westy pics please!

I like the westy too. Back in the day they were considerably more expensive which is why the UK conversions were much more popular. It's horses for courses though since, compared to many UK conversions, the westy can seem rather claustrophobic and cramped.

Each according to their needs :)

I spent months deciding on the type of van - and it was the roof of the westy that did it for me - so practical and looks good up & down - the fact that I planned to (and still haven't!) put a bed in the top was an added bonus - the roof just gives acres of room inside once up

and deffo white ones rule ;)

I have a Westy Tin Top and would only consider swapping it for a Westy pop top.......IN WHITE
I love the Tin Top but im over 6 feet tall and its difficult getting dressed
The interior is very practicle though i may change the cool box to a proper fridge....got to keep the beer....i mean food cool

I love the fact that they look as good with the roof up as they do with it down, I also plan on fitting a double bunk up top for the little one, plenty of room for us all. :p

I love the white westys aswell! :D

When I started looking four years ago I first set my sights on an early bay then I rented a tin top and at 6foot it was tuff, so decided on a pop top looked at hundreds of different types and did my research then boom saw, my bus in its sorry state, but something grabbed me and fell in love and had to have it, It really has a classic look , and has to be the most practical I've been on holiday in mine with my wife daughter her partner and two grand kids and an awning, no worries

Stunning buses. My first introduction to VW's came when I went to Cornwall with my parents and I saw a load of old vehicles with their pop up roof at the beach - all surfers and couldn't work out what they were. Looks like I've come full circle, though I still think the mustard covers would have to go.

Mine was replaced with ox blood vinyl as it was knackered!

If my OG Mustard Vinyl was in good condition I would have kept it but it was shagged as was the foam, which id why I replaced it and got Tracy to recover it.
As soon as I get time I will be replacing the cream vinyl with the OG mustard as Its retro and Original, but each to there own.
Makes it more interesting. :D
