I've seen these shine really good, whereas mine are dull. Is there a wonder product that brings them back to life, or do people re chrome them?
Cheers in advance.

Most deluxe trim is aluminium, some may have the expensive steel chromed trim which i think is after market, dunno if you can get this for buses yet.

Any trim i've seen has always been dull i think thats hows its supposed to look. you could try something like Autosol which is very good.

Remember that the trim is laquered from the factory, hence the aged milky appearance.
To get it real bright youll need to remove that and then polish it.

I like mine weathered.

They are anodized from factory, not lacquired. Anodizing gives hard and durable aluminum oxide surface to aluminum parts. If you try to polish the trim, you should remove the anodizing first. If I remember right it comes off easily with 'lye' which came out from dictionary as * caustic soda or * sodium hydroxide. Basically you can use normal drain opener. Here someone used 0,1l of that pictured drain opener in 5l of water. And that housing was in the solution only a couple of minutes. Click on the pic for more:

Sounds interesting, I have some spare bits and will try it on one of them.
How do you re-anodise it?
If you don't, won't it just tarnish and go dull again? But qicker this time?

dannyz gets his deluxe trim polished professionally before selling it, you could send him a PM im sure he knows what would be the best way?

What a great idea - our local electroplaters closed down last year ( :( ) so it's nice to know you could get decent results at home!

Come on all you deluxe boys and girls - let's see some creatively coloured trim!!

;)
