...the flasher relay on a '68 bay, second from the right in the fuse box?

I'm down the lock up and forgotton the manual

Bently is saying 8 amp for a 68', and fuse location is 1 in the fusebox for turn signals, so i guess thats is the left most fuse.

how many fuse slots have you? you should have 10 according to bently as its saying here second from the right is your hazard lights and are rated at 16 amp (slot 9 if you count from the left in a 68-69).

sorry if i confused you.

Hi Johnny, thanks for your answers yesterday, the battery went on my phone shortly afterwards thus ending all my life lines so sorry I didn't say ta yesterday.

I ended up bunging in an 8 amp so that I wouldn't fry anything and that did the trick. To be honest I'm not sure the previous owner had much respect for vw's wiring diagram when they put it al back together so everything electrical is always confusing

8 amp will do for turn signals but is right on the limit if you have hazard lights (8ampx12volts=96watts divide by 4 bulbs is 26 watts a filament plus the surge of the flashers going on/off).

Hope you dont tow anything

yep trikky is right and reading from bently its 16 amp for hazards and 8 for turn signals.
