hi guys i bought a 1971 microbus a few years ago now, used it for about 8 months then parked it up to do some work to it eg rust repairs. I was then laid off work and didnt have the cash to do anything with it. It was parked up for about 3 years then before i started to strip it and sort the rust out. Unfortunatly its worse than i thought and it had loads of filler in it   The underneath and chassis looks pretty solid tho. I have already bought rear corners from heritage that cost me £400 and i have the battery trays and passenger rear wheel arch. The engine was reconditioned before i bought it and runs well also gearbox is in good condition, I wanted to know roughly what it is worth in its current state as i dont have the time to spend on it anymore thanks phil ps i will try and some photos now havent done it before

Put it on ebay, it will find its value. :)

Hi Phil

Still a bit hard to tell from the photos you've put up, as a resto project you could be looking anywhere between £1K & £2K but it all depends on how complete it is, the scale of the work needed (looks fairly major) and at the end of the day what someone with a bit of vision and welding skills is prepared to pay, presume its a RHD UK bus?.

A decent respray is going to cost a minimum of £2K upwards, so unless the buyer can spray theres that outlay plus welding and material costs, these are no longer cheap to restore and its hard for a commercial restorer to make money on something like this with the hours that could be needed on it unless they have a customer waiting prepared to pay a premium and in this economic climate I'm not sure how many of them are out there at the moment.

Just my view I'm sure others will have their opinion :)

Chris,

Put up some more pictures and please make sure they are 'decent' pics so I would suggest one front, one each side, the rear interior, chassis areas and then detailed ones for any place where repairs are known to be repaired.

Without this it is difficult to place a value on how long is my project length of string?

Sounds like you've lost the love and just want to get back as much as you possibly can which is fair enough. Selling a project that rough is going to be tough. If you have the patience and it pains me to say this, cut it up/part it out and make some cash on it. Sounds like you've already got a buyer for the rear corners.

If you have the patience...

...keep it and fix it!

I think Sparky managed to do his whole rear corner and arch on one side in a week, so get cracking

In all seriousness: will you regret selling it?

hia, if you think of selling bits off can i make an offer on the engine/gbox and drive shafts. thanks
